a Better Life... About Lake Murray
Lake
Murray is a vast area of water covering 78 square miles and approximately
50,000 acres of land. At its widest point, it is 41 miles long
and 14 miles wide.
The lake is named
after William Murray, the engineer who was oversaw the Lake Murray
dam project. When the dam was completed in 1930 it was know as
the world's largest earthen dam. The dam was built to harnessing
hydroelectric power to the middle part of South Carolina.
